Hoover High School celebrated Women’s History Month and Diversity during the month of March with one event titled “Proud to be me.” On March 14th three students, Millie, Vick, and Krystal, stood in the quad and encouraged other students to write down one thing that they were proud of when it came to themselves. The activity highlighted the different responses and showed Hoover’s diversity.

This also allowed Hoover High’s students to be able to take a chance to reflect on this school year and find a silver lining despite the obstacles everyone faced during the pandemic. Students wrote statements such as “LGBTQ” and “lesbian and non-binary,” expressing their pride in their identities.

On previous days of March Madness, students participated in events such as yard games, a water balloon toss, and a game where students matched a quote to an influential woman in history in honor of Women’s History Month. For the rest of the month, we will continue to have fun activities in the Quad during lunch so if you haven’t taken the chance to engage with your peers then take this opportunity to be involved and particiPATE.
